Dr. Jennifer Tang’s goal is to guide you through your journey of tangible health and put wellness back into your own hands.

NATUROPATHIC MEDICINE ENCOMPASSES SIX MAIN PRINCIPLES

  • 1. First do no harm

Utilizing the least invasive and safest options while still providing the best care possible is the approach of naturopathic medicine. We recognize that, although natural, there still exists potential side effects and interactions certain treatments may elicit. It is in our best interest to recognize all of this and create the best plan catered to you.

  • 2. The healing power of nature

Our bodies are smart. It is comprised of eleven organ systems that are responsible for different roles but ultimately co-operate with each other for maximized functioning. If any of these components are disturbed, our bodies demonstrate this in the form of signs and symptoms that may require diagnostic analysis. The goal of naturopathic medicine is to support the body’s natural innate ability to heal. The objective is not to stay on long-term medication on these things. Of course, there may be the need for maintenance plans, but the key is to revitalize the body through different naturopathic modalities it needs to get back on track

  • 3. Identify and treat the cause

Identifying the root cause of disease is an important principle in naturopathic medicine. Addressing the symptoms are important; however, targeting the underlying agent in which these symptoms are originating from is essential. When the cause of disease is not targeted, more symptoms may begin to surface. A good example of this is patients I see with hormonal concerns, having no relief from any treatments, but as soon as we addressed dysbiosis/digestive issues of the gastrointestinal tract, the process of restoration and repair began. Our bodies are so complex, yet fascinating - different organ systems affect others in so many ways. The connection between hormones and gut is just one example. Naturopathic doctors make these connections and cater them to you.

  • 4. Doctor as teacher

Doctor as teacher is one of the most important naturopathic principles. Including patients in the treatment process and the reasoning behind our therapeutic choices is an essential component of their health journey. In my experience, many of my patients even appreciate when I educate them on their conditions, and explain what’s happening to their bodies. • 5. Treat the whole person

Treating the whole person utilizing an individualized approach is an essential pillar to naturopathic medicine. For each health condition, there are multiple factors that may be responsible. These contributing factors differ from one person to another; thus, even if two people have the same diagnosis, their symptom severity and characteristics can vary significantly. They can also have very different aggravating and alleviating agents as well, which affects the individualized treatment plan.

  • 6. Prevention

How many of you have been told to do the ‘watch and wait’ method? Naturopathic medicine offers preventative care for the disease you have a genetic predisposition to, a family history to, a risk factor for, or suboptimal levels of something. It allows you to be proactive in your health, ultimately putting wellness back into your own hands.

Here at Tangible Health, Jennifer goes through an extensive intake of your health history to get to know you and your goals. From there, you will have access to physical exams, laboratory tests, and other functional medicine diagnostic testing that is necessary to identify the root cause of your concerns. All of these tools will contribute to generating a personalized and unique treatment plan just for you.
